‍The core mission of the foundation is to support the development and proliferation of BAT in order to launch and sustain transformative ideas that solve real problems around decentralization, privacy and data ownership.

‍Its members are passionate about the revelatory possibilities of Web3 and believe that BAT has a key role to play as the first universal currency in this new technological primitive. We think this can be achieved most effectively through:

Broadly speaking, BAT DAO will operate in stages with more details to come in the future

Stage 1: Infrastructure and Governance
BAT3 appointed council members kick off by self-funding the development of the charter, constitution, governance system, treasury, forums, and checks and balance systems

Stage 2: Community Participation
Crowdsourcing and collaboration begins as public Web3 members are able to access voting capabilities, elect chosen representatives, deliberate on project proposals, and interact with one another 

Stage 3: Community Tools & Governance
Council control being transitioned to elected representatives begins as the DO releases tools and new utility for BAT on the blockchain

Stage 4: Steady State & Sustainability
The foundation becomes a perpetual and community sustained organism

BAT DAO is so passionate about Basic Attention Token because it embodies the core guiding principles of Web3: Decentralization, being permissionless, privacy-centric, and trustless.

Due to this, it is only a natural extension to envision BAT as the best fit for Web3’s native cryptocurrency. We are only at the beginning of creating a better internet, but as we continue to develop BAT alongside the Web3 infrastructure, the future looks brighter and brighter
